When we first saw the ad for the PUSH Small Ball program, we were a bit
hesitant about mentioning it to our 7 yr old, as he had participated in the
small ball program at his elementary school and lost interest in it rather
quickly (it was “boring” and “we did the same things every week”). We
decided to register him and give it a try, and we are SO glad we did.
From the first moment our son arrived at the gym, he was hooked. He
never complains about not wanting to go… as a matter of fact, he’s usually
the first child in the gym, ready to practice, learn and become a better
athlete. Our son was always a leader, but through the encouragement and
coaching he receives from the PUSH program, we now find him teaching
the neighbourhood kids the skills and techniques he has learned! PUSH is
giving him a new type of confidence!!!
Tyrone coaches each child as if they are the only one there, and uses
gentle yet firm coaching styles to encourage the children to work hard,
push themselves to their limits, and become better and better each and
every week. He is constantly using positive reinforcement and praise,
never saying that they did something wrong, but rather saying “try again,
but try it this way!” My son had a love for basketball before joining
PUSH, and this program has just fostered that love even more. There are
not many programs out there for young kids who may not be interested in
the more traditional sports of hockey and soccer, which seem to be the
major focus here in the CBRM… both of which our son had not shown an
interest in. He loved basketball from the time he could dribble the ball
and make a basket, so finding PUSH has opened a new door for our son.
I would HIGHLY recommend the PUSH program to anyone who wants
their child coached by a highly experienced, focused, community-minded
coach who wants nothing but the best for his athletes. Not only do they
come out of the program being PUSHed to be the best they can be, but
they also understand the importance of dedication, hard work, community
service and teamwork!

My daughter joined Push this year and has been involved in a lot of other basketball camps and skills and drills but this has been the best one yet. She has learned and developed so much in the past 3 months. She developed not only as a player but as a community member. They learned the importance of hard work and volunteering. All the coaches are great. Can't wait for the next great thing Push basketball does.

Hey Everyone I joined Push basketball this year and never had so much fun playing before. I've learned so many lessons from all my coaches. I've never been in such good conditioning as I am now. We played so much and even got to host our own tournament. I can't wait to go back.

Push has been the best basketball program I have seen. From day 1 of the program they were taught better drills then I seen in either school programs or any other program. Both my kids have been in the capers program and school programs and they have gotten so much better after a few months through push. My youngest is 6 and has had trouble even bouncing the ball and understanding the game when he started and is now able to dribble back and forth between hands can shoot better and just his understanding the game and instructions has been boosted more then I could have expected. My oldest has been some what of a ball hog and scared to finish his lay ups.he was taught to keep his head up when coming up the court look for open players and to work his team, and to finish on his lay ups. For the skills they learned and the fun they had was worth every cent and I will be putting them into every program push runs.

Tessa and Jake had a great summer with PUSH. There was skill as well as confidence improvements in both kids. The workouts benefited the kids both physically and mentally,. They got to meet so many new people and learned to work as a team. They had so much fun and really enjoyed the program and your leadership.
Thanks!!

In May of this year Cape Breton Youth Basketball Players were presented with a new option.
Tyrone Levingston started a new league, PUSH Cape Breton Youth Basketball.
Youth involved in this program had two days of practice, plus a third day for a game.
Some of the older youth also, because of their coaches, had a fourth day of dry land training.
This is a new program, and like anything new, experienced growth, learned, skills increased, and they also learned to give back to the community. Organizers, players, AND parents pulled together to present a Canada Day Weekend Tournament which brought players from Moncton and HRM. Teams grew stronger, as did many Friendships. PUSH Cape Breton Youth Basketball is a chance to learn not only to be a better ball player, but a better person. And as the program grows, so will the number of youth who learn to love not only the game, but the community and themselves.

This year I had the chance to play basketball, and train again with Tyrone Levingston.
I’ve known Tyrone a long time, and been to basketball camps and training camps with him since the Highlanders.
This time it was different. In a good way.
Tyrone always works hard, and expects us to as well.
And that’s what we did.
We trained. We practiced. We played ball. And we did things in the community.
My team helped set up for Ribfest.
I had the chance to play ball with old friends and make new ones. And work with some great coaches.
I leaned new skills, saw the results of the hard work and conditioning in myself.
I can’t wait for the next session of PUSH so I can keep going.

My son was late coming to the “Push” Basketball program as we had only heard about it from his friend. I truly did not know much about it and was not sure what to expect. However, I think it is important to take the time to thank Tyrone for allowing “Nate” to join late and be part of this great program. He loved it. I have seen him develop and grow in a few short weeks. The quality of the program was exceptional if you are looking for bang for you buck. From the uniforms to playing on the court at Centre 200. Two practices a week and games on the weekend definitely was worth it. Nate is extremely excited to see what Push has to offer next.
Thank you PUSH & Tyrone!

PUSH Basketball is exactly what our community needed. Tyrone is a great coach who looks to get the most out of everyone, weather a new player or an athlete aspiring to play at the next level. The kids learn life lessons that will help them long after the program have finished. My son loved the program and we saw a vast improvement in his skill set. He is ready for his last year in middle school ball in fall, looking forward to what Tyrone, and PUSH have planned for the future.
